Flamingo…Friend or Foe?

This beautiful photo captures Lucian and I gazing into a Caribbean sunset while watching wild Flamingos leisurely roaming the sand.  From this distance, my Tiny Traveler LOVES the flamingos. She points and shrieks with delight as she watches them move around on those impossibly thin legs. But being the “smart” momma I am, I decided to really pull out all the stops in this experience for her.

I start anxiously searching through my purse (that is stuffed to the brim with old milk filled sippy cups and crumbles of crackers) to find a lonely quarter in the deep, dark bottom. I race over to a retro-fitted gum ball machine, now full of flamingo food, and buy a small handful of pellets for Lucian to feed her new friends.

BIG Mistake…

Like magic, the flamingos come right up to us to enjoy this tasty snack and then… Lucian starts panicking! Scratching and clawing her way up my chest, she tries to reach the highest point on my body for safety while burrowing her face into my neck. She only looks back to scream into the flamingo’s faces and shake her little fist at these terrible pink beasts.

Although, this Tiny Traveler can’t speak in sentences yet…I can only imagine her words were something like….”You’re a total jerk, mom.”

Yup…Mom of Year here, folks.

  1. Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this site.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very difficult to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and
visual appearance. I must say that you’ve done a superb job with this.
Also, the blog loads extremely quick for me on Firefox.
    Outstanding Blog!
